Substitute Teacher Application Process

2025-2026 School Year
To qualify for the Archdiocese of Portland Catholic Schools Substitute List, applicants must have one of the following:- Valid Oregon teaching license.
- An Oregon teaching license in-process.
- Expired Oregon license with proof of a renewal in process.
When you apply to be a substitute teacher with the Archdiocese of Portland (ADP), your name and contact information will be added to the ADP Substitute List that is made available to all ADP school pastors and principals. Your name on the list informs our ADP school pastors and principals that you have completed all ADP and State of Oregon requirements to work with minor children.Applications will be evaluated for appropriate qualifications, which include, but are not limited to, a background of successful teaching experience. With your application, please upload an Authorization for Disclosure of Information form (from three most recent education-related employers), or email that form separately to omce@archdpdx.org.
In addition to the substitute teacher application, the following requirements will be verified:- Current Oregon teaching license -or- renewal/application in-process.
- Fingerprinting on file with the Oregon Department of Education (or previous employer).
- Completed C.A.S.E. Training (Creating A Safe Environment).
- Praesidium Academy Background Check.
- Annual child protection training updates.
