For accreditation and the continued renewal process, all the NSBECs standards need to be considered and implemented. I find that many of our schools struggle with Domain 4 and finding ways to meaningfully create plans that fulfill these standards with strategies that align with the mission of the school. Standard 10 discusses creating a financial plan that aligns with the mission of the school, demonstrates the intentional process of prioritizing the Catholic identity of the school, and is created in partnership with the pastor. Every decision made in our schools should be made through the lens of our mission. Does this choice align with our mission and does it move our mission forward? Thoughts to consider while developing a new financial plan for your school: Are you consulting available experts, are you investing properly and in alignment with your plan, are you analyzing your revenue sources and trying to diversify your revenue sources, are you properly budgeting for all projected costs, are you identifying the actual cost to educate a student and sharing that with stakeholders, have you created a tuition assistance plan that is clearly communicated with families, and is all of this completely lined out in a written plan? If you are working through all of these big questions in collaboration with your pastor and with your mission in mind, you will be on a great path.
